Who is eligible to participate in the DV Program?
Almost everyone can participate in the US Diversity Visa Program. However, there are two criteria every participant must fulfill: country of birth and level of education. You must have proof of these two requirements at the time you win the DV Program. Are you eligible to enter the US Diversity Visa Program?
What education or work requirements do I have to meet?
You can apply for the US Diversity Visa Program when:
- You can prove that you have at least an American high school diploma or an equivalent education. This means that the participants must have completed at least 12 years of formal primary and secondary education.
- You can prove at least two years of work experience within the past five years in an eligible occupation. Eligible occupations are those that require at least two years of training. Please refer to the database provided by the State Department to verify whether your job is eligible.
Is there an age limit to participate in the US Diversity Visa Program?
- Basically, there is no age requirement to apply to the DV Program. However, you should be aware that people under the age of 16 cannot actually meet the education requirements.
Countries excluded from participating in the US Diversity Visa Program
Several countries are excluded from participating in the DV Program, namely: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria. Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea, the United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland) and its territories and Vietnam.
What language skills are required?
Many USA fans ask us how good their English language skills should be to apply for the US Diversity Visa Program. Basically, participants do not have to show any special language skills. Many of our winners have a story to tell! Without speaking a word in English, many people participated in the DV Program won and successfully immigrated to the United States! We still recommend that you attend English language courses in a language school so that you are better prepared when you win the DV Program.
