Applying For The US Diversity Visa Program
You can apply for a year-round US Diversity Visa Program with USAGCD online. All applications are then submitted to US authorities, generally between October and November each year. In these four weeks, people from all over the world can apply for the US Diversity Visa Program through the portal provided by the US authorities.
Throughout the year, we take the time to personally and individually process your green card application. We will contact you if we have any questions and make corrections before submitting your request electronically and on time to the US authorities. That way, you won’t risk being disqualified due to a mistake in your application.
You will receive an official certificate of participation from us by mail as confirmation that your application has been successfully submitted to the US authorities. This certificate of participation will also be uploaded electronically to your personal account.
– US Diversity Visa Program Draw
In May or June of the following year, about seven months after all applications are submitted, the US government announces the winners of the US Diversity Visa Program. The US authorities chooses the winners in a random manner. USAGCD participants will receive written notification of their personal results.

– US Consulate Invitation
After you submit the DS-260 online form, you will receive an invitation to attend an interview at the US Consulate. the date you schedule your interview will depend on your case number and on the actual date you submitted the DS-260. Meanwhile, most communications between the green card applicant and the United States authorities take place via email. It is important to provide a valid email address that you check regularly.
Expect to receive an invitation to attend an interview at the US Consulate between October and September of the following year. The interview appointment in your home country is usually scheduled at the US consulate that deals with immigrant visas. Some countries,like the Netherlands, do not have a US embassy to process immigrant visas. In this case, green card interviews are conducted at the US consulate in Stockholm, Sweden.
– Activation Trip to the USA.
If you have a successful interview appointment at the US Consulate, you have about 6 months to travel to the United States for the first time as a green card holder. These six months begin on the day you make an appointment with your doctor before your consulate interview.
When you’re about to enter the United States for the first time as a green card holder, the border officer will inquire about your personal data and take, between other things, your photo and fingerprints. This information is necessary for issuing your green card. In addition, you will receive a stamp in your passport proving your status as a green card holder until you get the actual green card.
Your first trip to the United States doesn’t necessarily have to be your permanent move to America. You could very possibly take a long vacation first and take time to get to know your new home! Or, as a permanent resident, you may return the next day.

– Receiveing the Green Card
About 3 to 6 months after your green card is activated, your lawful permanent resident card will be mailed to the USA to the address provided on your application.
Note: Green Cards can only be delivered to an address in the USA. US authorities never send immigration documents outside the USA. If you have friends or family in the USA you can have your green card sent to their address. If not, you are welcome to use our US address in New York City for a small fee. Once your green card is delivered to our US address, we will send it to you wherever you want it.
